Excerpt from the book’s acknowledgements page
From a young age I have been fascinated by the related stories of the ‘father and son Kennedys’ (as well as their ‘wives’ and ‘other descendants’). This has been especially so from talks with and information from various ‘Cocker-Murray’ relatives descended from the two Kennedy Murray Jr daughters (Hannah Goodall Murray and Annie Summers Murray) who married two brothers Joshua Reynolds Cocker and David Cocker also from Northern Tasmania. I was particularly encouraged to take an interest by my Aunt Janet Whish-Wilson (a granddaughter of Hannah) and close cousin Joseph (Joe) Murray Cocker (a grandson of Annie or Dot as she was known in the family). Another close cousin Peter Cocker (a grandson of Hannah) has also provided relevant information and useful assistance in various ways to the present day. the present day. Through Joe I got to know a key family genealogist Terry Browne at the 2006 Harry Murray VC statue ceremony in Evandale. Terry has provided significant connections to some of the other earlier Murray family historians like Harry Hunt and his daughter Rose Aitken. [Harry Murray was my father’s great uncle as well as close neighbor and mentor at Richmond, Qld. Hannah Goodall Murray and Annie Summers Murray were his sisters of a similar age who remained close to him all his life].
